BMW And Daimler: The Chinese Strike Again

Print Email

In terms of public relations, this has not been a banner month for China.

Now, BMW and Daimler are claiming that a large Chinese car company is copying their models. Shuanghuan Automobile has models coming to market which have been described by the German government as "plagiarism and copyright infringement.". Now, tell us what you really thnk.

The FT writes that the problem is getting serious: “We take intellectual property protection very seriously,” a DaimlerChrysler spokesman said. “We decided to reserve the right to pursue legal action.”

At some point the mess with Chinese copy infringement and tainted exports will actually get serious.
